L.L.Bean: duck boots, $104
Italian Lambskin Driving Gloves with Contrast Welting

Chic and tall riding boots are great, but if you live in a snowy town, with potentially icy walkways, you need to be prepared.  When your center of balance is already askew, you don't want to be trotting around precariously on ice.  Trust me. L.L. Bean boots are classic, rugged, functional, but also very on trend when paired with skinny pants and other stylish winter accessories. A cross-body bag also helps to keep your hands and arms free, ensuring you keep your balance.

Where I live, we have a few more months of terrible weather ahead, so a nice puffy coat will keep one warm.  You can find some great deals on coats at this point in the season on line.  A lot of stores will also be significantly clearing out their winter wear to make way for spring items (already!? wasn't it just Christmas last week or something?)

And don't forget your salve!! I love this rose salve, it's multi-purpose, lightly fragrant, non-greasy, and hey, you could even try putting it on your stretch marks.  Not saying it's going to help any, but it can't hurt.

Baby Style - Woolybaby upcycled slippers

These little wool slippers from Woolybaby in Pennsylvania are awesome. I am a huge fan of recycling wool sweaters.  On my personal blog, you can see the footstool cover I made. There are also some felt slippers somewhere in the archives, but these are so much nicer! I love the leather soles.

These would be a great gift for a new baby.  I love the neutral for both boys and girls, I could see them being great hand-me downs as well! See the whole selection here.

dressing like my mom - maternity

here's an odd scenario for you.  i imagined if my mom was me, and that she was pregnant. this is what she would wear. my mom is a pretty stylish grandma at the moment, and would rock this look in non-maternity clothes. inspiration comes in many forms, no?

High & Low - Making Leggings Look Good

This is how it's done.  From Isabella Oliver, known for their quality knitwear and figure flattering maternity garments.  I think this look would equally work with suede booties, pumps or flats.  I would have to go with flats, but I have seen the illusive pregnant woman in heels, and I am not only impressed, but humbled.  I would fall in two seconds. Seriously.

For those of us on a shoe-string budget, you can get a similar look with these basics at Old Navy.  When it comes to affordable, comfortable maternity clothes, Old Navy is my go-to.  Add some shades and sweet shoes (at more than half the price of the ones above) and you are set!

Low- Old Navy - maternity

inspired by - Natalie Portman

The gorgeous Natalie Portman has a bun in the oven.  She and her gorgeous dancer fiance will surely have stunning offspring. Natalie wore a blue Jason Wu dress to the People's Choice Awards this week, and looked lovely.  Of course she is glowing, and this fun frock looks great on her shape.

So, you don't have a few grand to spend on a dress, or connections with top designers? No red carpet to walk down or a stage to present on?  Old Navy  has a similar cut dress on sale right now, pair it with some fun blue suede shoes, and some ball-drop earrings, and you are ready for a night on the town. Regardless if your BabyDaddy is a ballerina or nay.

If all of this seems just a bit too much, then maybe you just need to head to your nearest Wal-Mart. Warning (do not give birth there, just look for some good deals, k?)  People just don't accessorize with plants like they did ten years ago.
